Twisted lips A few years ago, I failed an operation(手術). A young girl wanted to undo her lips for a beauty contest (選美比賽), she had thought her lips were too small. I was her operation doctor and she trusted me, she said that I had a friendly look. But her confident(信任) in me was exactly the thing that betrayed(背叛) her, the operation failed(失敗) and she got her lips lacerated (撕裂的). And the secret was, I did it on purpose(故意的). As I’ve told you, she was in a beauty contest; competition(競爭) means cruelness(殘酷), young girls had to be dismissed(淘汰) one after one and only the best stays. How ever, the cruel part is that campaigners have nasty minds. They want to ruin(毀滅) each other, no matter(不管)what it takes. I was offered(建議) five thousand pounds for the deal(交易), I was asked to make a small mistake which will cause(引發) huge consequences(後果). To tremble(顫抖) my hands a little while holding the knife. That was all, and I could earn(獲得)so much for that. I know I shouldn’t accept(接受) it, but you can not expect(期待) a poor doctor to refuse(拒絕) with so much cash in front. It’s a matter of conscience but(良心) it’s also a matter of benefits(利益). So I did it, got my money by ruining a young girl’s life. No one was suspicious(疑心的). Operations like that have great risks(風險); all I did was increasing(增加)the risk. I got away easily and continued working there. But somehow I couldn’t forgive myself, I ruined a girl once trusted me so much. Nightmares(噩夢) wouldn’t leave me alone, she demanded me furiously(憤怒地), “why?” She died the next year, it was a suicide(自殺). From that moment on, I thought I needn’t worry any more. But I felt she was all around me; in my house, my office everywhere. I heard her voice, soft buy angry, driving me crazy bit by bit. All of a sudden I saw her, in her while gown(長袍), swinging towards me. Her hair was silky and straight, her face was pale(蒼白). And her lips, were twisted(扭曲的). I knew the day would come, she came for revenge.(報復) “Am I pretty?” She asked softly “Yes…you are.” That was the only thing I could say. The she had a mad expression(表情) on her face, “Well, you made me pretty…like now” A cunning(狡猾的smile crossed her lips “So I’ll make you pretty too…” I woke up screaming(尖叫着), I grabbed(抓)a mirror and saw my reflection(映像). Everything was perfect(完美的)… except(除了) the twisted lips. The mirror crashed to pieces while I heard my heartbreaking scream.
