　　Wearefortunatetobealiveatthismomentinhistory.(Alause.)Neverbeforehasournationenjoyed,atonce,somuchproerityandsocialprogrewithsolittleinternalcrisisandsofewexternalthreats.Neverbeforehavewehadsuchableedoortunity--and,therefore,suchaprofoundobligation--tobuildthemoreperfectunionofourfounders”dreams.

　　Webeginthenewcenturywithover20millionnewjothefastesteconomicgrowthinmorethan30yearthelowestunemploymentratesin30yearthelowestpovertyratesin20yearthelowestAfricanAmericanandHianicunemploymentratesonrecord;thefirstback-to-backbudgetsurplusesin42years.Andnextmonth,Americawillachievethelongestperiodofeconomicgrowthinourentirehistory.(Alause.)

　　AndoureconomicrevolutionhasbeenmatchedbyarevivaloftheAmericanirit:crimedownby20percent,toitslowestlevelin25yearteenbirthsdownsevenyearsinarow;adoptioupby30percent;welfarerollscutinhalftotheirlowestlevelsin30years.
